Kindergarten students are encouraged to practice their math and reading skills over the summer. The picture below has a link to a kindergarten Summer Activities page which the students will explore in computer class today. Students are encouraged to use these activities throughout the summer.
The First Grade computer class created an ABC Book during their computer class for the Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes to enjoy. Today the Kindergarten class will watch a video of the ABC Book computer project.
Today in kindergarten we will continue with our beginning coding concepts activities that were introduced during Hour of Code in December. Students will continue exploring with Kodable and Puppy Adventure.
Today students will review their introductory keyboarding skills with Keyseeker. This tool, which was introduced earlier in the year, helps the students practice location of letters on the keyboard while prompting them to use the correct hand to strike the key. The students use color bands on their wrists to help them to use the correct hand.
Students will be learning about insects in the classroom. They will use their computer class time today to explore videos, games, and educational activities to introduce their study of insects.
Today kindergarten students will return to one of their favorite websites, Poisson Rouge. Students will enjoy the most recent updates on this interactive website and discover new springtime activities.
Earth Day celebrates its 47th year on Saturday, April 22. In anticipation of Earth Day, kindergarten students will work with their partner class in a school-wide clean-up day activity on this Friday. Today the kindergarten class will use computers to explore some educational and fun activities focusing on Earth Day and recycling.
Throughout their kindergarten year the students have learned about the different seasons. They also have used Pixie software in a variety of ways in their computer class. Today students will show what they have learned throughout the year about the four seasons using a variety of tools that they have practiced in Pixie on a "Trees in Seasons" activity.
Today students will review their money counting skills with a variety of coin counting activities found in our PIXIE software program.
